Thanksgiving is a time for individuals and families to reflect upon the year and show gratitude for the blessings our Lord has bestowed upon us throughout the year.
Too often, we get caught up in our circumstances to realize that we are blessed. We are blessed to live in the richest nation in the world. We are blessed because we can worship freely. In fact, if you think about it, you can probably come up with hundreds of reasons you are blessed. Perhaps the following list will help inspire you.
Here are a few of the reasons I am blessed this year:
- I'm healthy.
- My family is healthy.
- We're not hungry, cold, or in need.
- I am my own boss.
- My children are smart and self-motivated yet selfless and willing to help others.
- I have a few real friends, the kind that would die for me.
- I have a place to live and animals to share that life with.
- My wife loves me and I love her.
None of these blessings would be possible without the protection of our military. Remember them Thursday when you give thanks to our God and ask that He give them peace and special blessings for their sacrifice. I ask that you to reflect on the last year of your life and look at the blessings you have received. Try not to focus on the failures, set-backs, and bad things that have happened; instead, focus on how God has blessed you, put people in your life, and shown his love through his son Jesus Christ.
